Looking at the Big Picture
Why do you want to be healthy, actually ? If you had excellent health, what would you do with it ?
We look at it this way : that we’re here on earth for a reason, and there's some task for each of us - something "with our name on it", which perhaps no one else can do better. Is there something you have a yearning inside to learn about or explore ? Something to improve in the world, to fight for or against ? Is there someone else - a child, grandchild, friend or family member - who needs you to be there, or be something for them ?
The “Health !” section of Living Waters Wellness is an overview, a menu of steps you can take towards better wellness in a very broad sense. Choose what fits you, in the order that works best for you. But as you do, keep in mind this question : if you had better - even exceptional - health, what would you do with it ?
What Does Your “Big Picture” Look Like ?
It never hurts to clarify what’s important to us - the bigger picture of our lives. Consider how you might answer these questions :
- What are your main tasks in life ? Is there something you deeply want to - or feel you need to - do ?
- What main moods and feelings accompany your life, that come up for you again and again ?
- How do you understand your life, what "meaning" do you take from it so far ? Are there themes or questions that keep repeating for you ?
As an exercise, identify answers to these questions - three or four for each, and write them down. You may find that the first one or two come easily, but that the rest may take more time. This is actually where your answers may get truly interesting.
We know what we want, for the most part ; but what else is the world asking of us, does it place again and again in our path ? There are themes we don't usually notice - but they may be the true growing points into our future. When you’re done, write down any special insights you come to.
