Telecommunications in the computer age were at first all wired, but the balance has shifted decisively towards WiFi and wireless connections. This has mainly to do, we believe, with
perceived long term lower costs : reduced needs to place and replace wires in walls and
the earth, to invest capital, to hire and maintain human employees. Smart Homes and the Internet of Things will also require almost endless numbers of devices - and offer almost endless streams of profits
One can imagine today that if wired technologies were eliminated, some in the industry would be quite pleased. Practically speaking, there's a danger that "wires" could in fact become de-emphasized to the point that economic interest in them would fade ; and with it the possibility to even obtain wired products or services
Given the concerns about health risks to humans and the environment from 5G networks, the risks to personal privacy and cyber security, we see the rush to these technologies as a great temptation we face, as a human species ; a salesperson's dream, to be sure - but at the same time, one of the greatest corners we could paint ourselves into, in human history
